70 Hill Lane is the show that put Improbable on the map. It saw the beginning of our predilection for sticky tape, the exploration of object animation and established many of the elements that have since become identified with our work, including memoir and interwoven personal stories.

Part autobiography, part fantasy and dream, this show creates a haunting world of childhood yearning through an extraordinary synthesis of storytelling, improvisation, object animation, live music… and sellotape.

70 Hill Lane won several major awards including an OBIE for Outstanding Achievement in Off Broadway Theatre, the 1997 Time Out Award for Best Off West End Production, Best Performance at The Cairo International Theatre for Experimental Theatre and The Manchester Evening News Award for Best Fringe Production.

The production was first performed at The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, in 1996. It has been performed in America, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Lebanon, and Syria.
